Social Change 2023

A new way of thinking about mental health

Conference and workshops in Reykjavík, Iceland

Spanning two days of workshops and presentations, we invited attendees to explore alternative understandings outside and inside the dominant, psychiatric perspective.

In our communities, people are seeking meaningful connections and relationships which they do not find help with within our current systems and services. During these innovative two days of presentations, dialogue and interactive workshops led by people with a lived experience of emotional distress or addictions, we invited conversations on what we can do differently that might lead to social and systemic change.

We welcomed attendees from all countries and cultures to join us in Reykjavík, Iceland for this two-day event where we shared ideas and perspectives but also took action on what we can do collectively to bring about change.

The events were coordinated thanks to a collaboration between Geðhjálp (Iceland), Bevisst Likepersonsarbeid (Norway) and Intentional Peer Support (International).
